Introduction
■ The electronics industry, especially meaning consumer electronics,emerged in the 20th
century and has now become a global industry worth billions of dollars.
■ The industry now employs large numbers of electronic engiineers and electronic
technician
■ Common parts manufactured are connectors, system components, cell systems, computer
accessories.
■ The materials used to manufacture theseare made of alloy steel, copper, brass, stainless
steel, plastic and steel tubing.
Consumer electronics
■ Consumer electronics are products intended for everyday use, most often
in entertainment, communications and office productivity.
■ Radio Broadcasting in the early 20th century brought the first major consumer product, the
broadcast receiver.
■ CE today are: personal computers, TV sets, game consoles, tablets, smartphones,
portable music players, navigation devices, digital cameras, audio or video
recorders, DVD players, but also emerging product categories such as e-
readers, wearables or 3D printers.
■ The CEA (Consumer Electronic Association) estimated the value of 2018 consumer electronics
sales at US$319 billion or INR ₹ 21,98,700cr.
