* What is
ICT?
According to Rouse, Information Communication
Technology or Technologies is an umbrella that
includes any communication device or application,
encompassing: radio, television, cellular phones and
network hardware and software, satellite systems
and so on.

The abacus is thought to

have been originally
invented over 3000 years
before the birth of Christ.

1928 – PLDT was the First Telecommunication
company in the Philippines, owned by an
American-based company.
1968 – It was transferred to a Filipino
owner named, Ramon Cojuangco.
1994 – First successful Internet connection in the
Philippines specifically in Makati City.
 * ICT in the Philippines
Philippines is called as the “ICT Hub of Asia” because of
huge growth of ICT-related jobs, one of which is BPO,
Business Process Outsourcing, or call centers.
ICT Department in the Philippines is responsible for the
planning, development and promotion of the country's
information and communications technology (ICT)
agenda in support of national
development.
 THE INTERNET
It is the global system of interconnected
computer networks that use
the Internet protocol suite (TCP/IP) to link
billions of devices worldwide. Sometimes called
simply "the Net," is a worldwide system of
computer networks - a network of networks in
which users at any one computer can get
information from any other computer.
 WORLD WIDE WEB
An information system on the internet that allows
documents to be connected to other documents by
hypertext links, enabling the user to search for
information by moving from one document to another.
Invented by Tim-Berners Lee
Asia is the large user of the world internet with 1.8
billion as of 2016.
