ve subrack
The DIP switch for the master/slave subrack is on the EFI1 board.
The ID of the master subrack is 0 by default. The ID of a slave subrack is set by using DIP switches SW1
and SW2, as shown in the figure. The ID of a slave subrack consists of eight binary digits that are
decreasing arranged as ID8–ID1. Currently, only ID6–ID1 are valid, and ID7 and ID8 are reserved. ID1–ID4
correspond to bits 1–4 of SW2, and ID5–ID8 correspond to bits 1–4 of SW1. If a bit is toggled ON, the
binary digit that corresponds to this bit is set to 0.

One N63B 2.2 m cabinet can house two OptiX OSN 8800 subracks or one OptiX
OSN 8800 subrack plus two OptiX OSN 6800 subracks. If the N63B 2.2 m
cabinet houses two OptiX OSN 8800 subracks, these two subracks must be
an optical-layer subrack placed in the lower space and an electrical-layer
subrack in the upper space of the cabinet. (In the case of the OptiX OSN 8800,
the subrack installed with cross-connect boards and OTU boards or tributary/line
boards is called the electrical-layer subrack, and the subrack mainly installed with
optical-layer boards is called optical-layer subrack. Generally, the optical-layer
subrack is not configured with cross-connect boards.)
Precautions:
•When multiple subracks are to be installed into one cabinet for expansion, install
these subracks from top to bottom. In the case of cabinet-sharing configuration of
the OptiX OSN 8800 and OptiX OSN 6800, first configure the OptiX OSN 8800
subrack in the upper space of the cabinet, then configure the OptiX OSN 6800
subrack in the lower space, and at last configure an expansion subrack in the
middle space, to avoid uneven distribution of weight.

Installation of the OptiX OSN 8800
PDU of a cabinet
1. If the OptiX OSN 8800 subrack is used as an electrical-layer subrack, its maximum power consumption is 4800 W. In this case, the
subrack requires two 50 A currents. Four 50 A currents, including two active 50 A currents and two standby 50 A currents, are configured
for the subrack. Therefore, if two OptiX OSN 8800 subracks are installed in one cabinet, eight 50 A air circuit breakers should be
configured on the PDU of the cabinet.
2. In practice, if the power consumption of configured boards is moderate whereas the customer cannot provide the power supply
compliant with Huawei specifications, the expected power consumption can be roughly calculated according to the actual power
consumption of the boards. The calculation formula is as follows: Expected power consumption = Actual power consumption/40 V*120%.
In this case, a project memo that records the calculation must be prepared and mutually signed by Huawei and the customer.
4. The OptiX OSN 8800 subrack and the PDU adopt ring terminals.
5. If the number of power supplies is insufficient, see the next slide for the power supply installation scheme.
