 Giovanni Maria Versace was born on December 2, 1946 in Reggio,
Calabria in southern Italy, the son of Francesca and Antonio Versace,
brother of Donatella, Santo e Tina.Gianni grew up alongside his mother,
one of Reggio's most well-known seamstresses, Gianni from an early age
absorbed his mother's sense of style, and began to develop a great
. passion for fashion.As a child he used to run after school to Francesca's
studio, there he collected scraps and produced dolls for his plays, at 11
he already made dresses for his friends' dolls, his father loved operas and

show Gianni met Antônio D'amico who became his lifelong companion,
in 1989 Donatella started her Versus Versace line which was a more
affordable line.
