CONTROL OF THREE PHASE VOLTAGE

SOURCE PWM RECTIFIER

INTRODUCTION PWM RECTIFIER

DIOT RECTIFIER

 Harmonic problems
Low power factor
PWM Rectifier

The power factor can be controlled

Network side current has no harmonic
The power can flow in both directions
Vdc can be controlled
Steady State Operation

 UL is the line voltage

 Us is the converter voltage
 iL is the line current
Steady State Operation
Phasor diagrams

When we control the phase angle and the amplitude of converter voltage Us, we can control
indirectly the phase and amplitude of the line current
CONTROL STRATEGIES

• We can classify the PWM rectifier method in two categories:

Voltage based and Virtual flux based control

All these control strategies can achieve the same main goals, such as hight power
factor and near sinusoidal input current waveforms
VOLTAGE ORIENTED CONTROL (VOC)

• MATHEMATICAL MODEL
We can find the voltage equations in dq
coordinates:
VOLTAGE ORIENTED CONTROL (VOC)
• Control system block diagram
VOLTAGE ORIENTED CONTROL (VOC)

TRANSFORMATION

• From dq to abc Transformation

ia = id cos – iq sin

ib = id cos ( 2/3) – iq sin 2/3)

ic = id cos 2/3)– iq sin)

TRANSFORMATION

• From dq to Transformation

V = Vd cos - Vq sin
V = Vd sin - Vq cos
RESULT AND CONCLUSION

 The current and voltage are sinusoidal and same phase

 The transition time has not been resolved
