WHAT IS ISO
 ISO stands for the International
Organization for Standardization, located
in Geneva, Switzerland. ISO promotes the
development and implementation of
voluntary international standards, both
for particular products and for
environmental management issues.
ISO 14001

It helps an organization identify and

control on how our business affects the
environment and helps put in place policies
to conserve our resources and save money.

It specifies the actual requirements for an

environmental management system(EMS)

System

and Safety Management System
ENVIRONMENTAL POLICY
• Prevention of pollution, as well as protection and care for the
environment in every stage of the BGO’s existing and future projects.

• Compliance to government and other environmental

laws, rules and obligations and other legal requirements.
• Prudent utilization of all resources and materials and use of
environment-friendly resources whenever possible.

• Proper waste management not only among employees, but also

among our subcontractors and suppliers.

• Continual improvement of our environmental

management systems and its performance.
ENVIRONMENT
Surroundings in which an
organization operates, including
air, water, land, natural
resources, flora, fauna, humans
and their interrelation

EMS Guidelines

 ISO-related guideline or operation-control put in place in all

major processes to reduce (if not totally eliminate)
environmental impact from process wastes and by-products

SOLID WASTE SEGRAGATION
 ORGANIC WASTE
 (LEFTOVER FOOD) USE BIODEGRADABLE TRASH BIN

 PLASTIC WASTE
 (PLASTIC BAGS USED FOR FOOD) DISPOSE IN NON-
BIODEGRADABLE TRASH BINS

 RECYCLABLE WASTE
 (ALUMINUM CANS, PLASTIC BOTTLES ETC) SHOULD BE
THROWN IN THE RECYCLABLE TRASH BIN

 OLD TIRES
 SHOULD BE COLLECTED AND STACKED NEATLY IN A
DESIGNATED OPEN SPACE
SOLID WASTE SEGRAGATION

 METAL SCRAPS
 WORN OUT TOOLS SHOULD BE RETURNED TO THE
SUPERVISOR BEFORE REPLACEMENT (SHOULD BE
RECORDED)
 REUSE OR RECYCLE IF POSSIBLE
 ALL METAL WASTE SHOULD BE COLLECTED IN A SPECIFIED
OPEN AREA (BODEGA, REBAR OR OTHER OPEN SPACE)
EMS GUIDELINE : DIESEL

 USE PROPER STORAGE/TRANSPORT CONTAINER

EMS GUIDELINE : DIESEL

 USE APPROPRIATE STORAGE SPACE

EMS GUIDELINE : DIESEL

 Car Buoys used for diesel should be properly labeled

 Un-usable car buoys are retured to the warehouse for

disposal
EMS GUIDELINE : DIESEL

 HANDLE WITH CAUTION (AVOID SPILL)

EMS GUIDELINE : USED OIL

 FOLLOW PROPER HANDLING AND STORAGE OF USED OIL

 ALL FULL CONTAINERS WILL BE TURNED OVER TO THE

ENVIRO DEPT
SPILL KIT

 SPILL KITS ARE ALSO LOCATED AT ALL WORK AREAS. FOR

LONG SURFACE TRIPS, VEHICLES SHOULD ALSO BRING A
SMALLER SPILL KIT
During OIL Spill

 Do not touch any harmful substance. Use PPE’s when

handling spill and leaks
 Immediately stop the cause of spill or leak (Place an
absorbent barrier around the spill if necessary)
 Cover the spill entirely with an appropriate material (sand,
saw dust etc.)
 Use small dustpan or shovel to collect the absorbent material
used
 Transfer contaminated material into a bag labeled “toxic” or
“hazard waste”.
During OIL Spill

 Toxic bags collected can be thrown on the hazard waste trash

bin (if available), or can be given to Enviro Department for
proper inventory and documentation
 All tools used should be decontaminated and washed
properly before storage and re-use
EMS GUIDELINE : DIESEL

 ALSO PROPER AND REGULAR MAINTENANCE OF

EQUIPMENT IS ALSO KEY TO REDUCE OIL LEAKS AND
SMOKE EMISSION.
 ALL WASTE ITEMS USED TO HANDLE DIESEL (OIL AND
GREASE) ARE THROWN IN THE TOXIC WASTE BIN
EMS GUIDELINE: ENGINE BATTERY

 DESIGNATE PROPER AREA FOR STORING COLLECTED

BATTERIES (PREF WITH SECONDARY CONTAINMENT)

 IF AREA IS FULL, MOTORPOOL WILL TURN IT OVER TO

ENVIRO DEPT FOR DISPOSAL
EMS GUIDELINE: LIGHTS

 Dispose all busted light bulbs and lamps properly

EMS GUIDELINE: CONTAMINATED CONTAINERS

 Used chemical containers should be segregated: separating

containers that can still be re-used
EMS GUIDELINE: CONTAMINATED
CONTAINERS

 Containers that used to contain toxic substances should be

disposed (or stored properly)
EMS GUIDELINE: CONTAMINATED
CONTAINERS

 IF TOXIC WASTE BIN (OR EMPTY TOXIC CONTAINERS AREA)

IS FULL, MOTORPOOL WILL TURN IT OVER TO ENVIRO
DEPT FOR DISPOSAL
