Explain about wired networks
The computer network is made up of two or more computer devices that are connected to
one and other to share information and resources.

Advantages
It is flexible, it is easy to use, it is secure and it is reliable and fast.
Disadvantages
It loses mobility, it needs installation, it has wires, it needs maintenance and it has high
cost.
Wireless network

Explain about wireless networks.

A wireless network is a computer network that uses wireless data connections

between network nodes.

Advantages

Is has increased mobility, it has easier network expansion and it has cost effective

Disadvantages

It need more additional hardware, it is prone to interference and it is less secure

Features of LAN network
Explain in detail about the LAN network

Network size is limited to a small geographical area, presently to few kilometers. Data transfer rate is generally high.
They range from 100 mbps to 1000 mbps.

A wide area network (WAN) topology describes the layout of a network components and connections on a
given WAN. although WAN design can appear complex, most such networks are based around one of a few
simple topologies.
Advantages of LAN

Advantages of LAN

Hardware and software can be shared. Does not cost too much. Private
ownership. All the user work can be stored in a central place hub. Separate
component.
Disadvantage of LAN

It covers a small geographic area. A virus can be spread more easily. High degree
of maintenance. A constant need for an upgrade. Printing can be too much slow,
long print queues may develop.
Advantages of WAN

WAN cover larger geographical area. Hence business offices situated at longer
distances can easily communicate. Like LAN, it allows sharing of resources and
application softwares among distributed workstations or users.
Disadvantage of WAN

Initial investment costs are higher. It is difficult to maintain the network. It requires
skilled technicians and network administrators. There are more errors and issues
due to wide coverage and use of different technologies.
