The structure of MIS may be defined as federation of functional sub-system.

MIS structure may be described by following different approaches, such as:


• Physical component
• Information system processing function
• Decision support
• Hierarchy of management activities

• Hardware Physical data processing equipment and peripheral device.
• Software Instruction or programme that direct the operation of hardware.

• Database All the data utilised by the application software.

• Procedure Formal operating procedure required to operate a system.


• Operational personnel Personal who operate the information system.
• Input & output Physical input and output from the information system.
