ASR (APPROACH STICK RELAY)

27

 Normally this relay will be in picked up condition

 Drops and locks the point when signal knob is

 Proves the following conditions before picking up:-
Indication locking
Back locking/Route locking
Approach locking(if approach track ckt is provided
in rear of the signal)

ASR (APPROACH STICK RELAY)

28

ASR picks up during the following occasions:-

 During signaled movement when track circuits are occupied and
cleared in sequence – UYR’s
 Manual cancellation – JSLR ,NJPR
 C-ON cancellation (Where C-on signal is provided below stop
signal) – COCAR ,CONJPR
 Track circuit in approach of signal is clear when signal knob is
reversed and normalized – TSR , AppTPR

29

Key role of this relay is

 Hold the route till movement of train is completed
 Achieve route holding arrangement
 Release the route if conditions are safe only.
 Front contact is proved in – WLR ckt,UCR ckt,
