Five Pillars of Islam

1. Shahada: Faith
The shahada is the Muslim profession
of faith, expressing the two simple
fundamental beliefs that make one a
Muslim.
The word shahada in Arabic means ‘testimony.’
The shahada is to testify to two things:
(a)  Nothing deserves worship except God (Allah).
(b)  Muhammad is the Messenger of God (Allah).
"There is no God but Allah, and Muhammad
is his messenger.“
This is the basic statement of
the Islamic faith: anyone who cannot recite
this wholeheartedly is not a Muslim. When a
Muslim recites this they proclaim: That
Allah is the only God, and that Muhammad
is his prophet.
When a Muslim recites this they proclaim:
That Allah is the only God, and that Muhammad is his
prophet
That they personally accept this as true
That they will obey all the commitments of Islam in
their life
.  Muslims say this when they wake
up in the morning, and before they
go to sleep at night.  It is repeated
five times in the call to prayer in
every mosque.
