This document describes an automatic street light system that uses solar power. The system uses a light dependent resistor and other components like transistors, resistors, and a mini solar panel to automatically turn the street lights on at night and charge the battery during the day, reducing energy consumption compared to manually operated street lights. The objectives are to use renewable energy for street lighting in rural areas with power cuts and decrease energy usage by ensuring lights are only on when it is dark.

COURSE CODE- IPDE202 INTRODUCTION Automatic Street Light system is a simple and powerful system. It automatically switches ON the light when it is dark. By this system energy consumption is reduced and manual work is not required. COMPONENTS USED-
1) Light Dependent Resistor (LDR)
2) NPN Transistors – BC478 3) Resistors 4) Diode 5) Mini Solar Panel 6) Rechargale Battery 7) PCB Board 8) Small LED OBJECTIVE & ADVANTAGES
• To compensate the growing energy demand by using Renewable energy source.
• To light the streets of rural areas with solar power where so many power cuts occurs. • By using this system for street light controlling, we can reduce energy consumption because the manually operated street lights are not switched off properly when the sunlight comes and also not switched on earlier before sunset. WORKING
• The street light is powered by a battery which is charged by a solar panel in
the day light. • LDR provides the automatic “ON”/”OFF” facility to the street lights, so that it will glow automatically when it is required(i.e. when the surrounding will be dark) and it will be turned “OFF” automatically if sufficient light is available in the surrounding. WHEN THERE IS DAY LIGHT The street light is automatically OFF WHEN THERE IS NIGHT • The street light turns ON Automatically. THANK YOU Achal Manchanda A1004920041
