REASON FOR QUITING OF PREVIOUS PROJECT :-

• At the starting we decided to do the project on energy generation by

using the renewable sources i.e, turbulent hydro generator that works by
the hydro energy from the free running water in streams and rivers.

• In that it requires a spiral turbine that rotates with the stream flow. The
availability of that turbine I very less and we want to provide the
prototype by making that turbine by hand we tried and it doesn’t work
as we expected.

• The 12V generator doesn’t works or it is not supported if the turbine is

made by fabrication.

• If the turbine is supported that project is almost to be done. But it is not

possible. So, we switched to any other social problem and that is nothing
but “Smart street lightening system”.
ABSTRACT :-
• This world is full of different kind of light sources some are natural
ones while others are man-made light sources.

• The man-made light sources have only two modes of operation that
is switch on and switch off there is no intermediate level that can be
set according to the surrounding lighting condition and at the end
everything needs to be controlled manually.

• These lead to wastage of electricity and at the same time a manual

control is not effective in the modern era.

• In this presentation, we purpose an advanced light control system

which is capable of replacing the old generation light control system.
Components Required : -
1- Arduino Uno
2- IR Sensors
3- LED ‘s or Bulbs
4- LDR
5- 10K resistor
6- Jumper Wires

Arduino :-
Arduino is an open-source electronics platform
based on easy-to-use hardware and software.

Arduino boards are able to read inputs - light

on a sensor, a finger on a button, or a Twitter
message - and turn it into an output - activating
a motor, turning on an LED, publishing
something online.
IR Sensor :-

The IR sensor module consists mainly of the IR Transmitter

and Receiver, Op-amp, Variable Resistor (Trimmer pot), output LED in
brief. IR LED emits light, in the range of Infrared frequency. IR light is
invisible to us as its wavelength (700nm – 1mm) is much higher than the
visible light range.
LDR (Light Dependent Resistor) :-

• A Light Dependent Resistor (LDR)

is also called a photoresistor or a
cadmium sulfide (CdS) cell....

• It is basically a photocell that

works on the principle of
photoconductivity.

• The passive component is basically

a resistor whose resistance value
decreases when the intensity of
light decreases.
INTRODUCTION :-

• Smart street lighting control system allows a city to schedule lights on or off easily and set dimming
levels of lights so a city can provide the right level of lighting intelligently.

• Smart and intelligent street lighting control systems are designed primarily for energy efficiency.
Cities using smart street lighting control system reduces their street lighting energy. Smart street
lighting control systems accurately detect light failure and other maintenance problems in real time so
malfunctions can be fixed quickly.

• This intelligent system provides the operator with web access for automatic or manual monitoring and
control over illumination performance. Additional smart automation systems such as temperature and
pollution sensors, traffic signals, security, fire detection, visibility conditions and traffic sensors may
be integrated and supported easily.

WORKING : -
• When its Dark the LDR will switch on all the LED's and their brightness will be full and when any
obstacle is detected by the IR sensor the respected LED will glow with full brightness for 3 sec. If
required do the modification in the code and Do the connection as per the code.

OBJECTIVES :-

Disadvantages of Existing system :-

 Manual switching OFF/ON of lights.
 High Expensive.
 More energy consumption.
Advantages of the proposed system :-
 Automatic switching of street lights.
 Maintenance cost reduction.
 Reduction in Co2 emission.
 Wireless communication.
 Energy saving.
 Reduction of man power.
