The Whistle

The whistle is a short insight in to Maciej Dynos, a friend of mine who works part
time for himself creating all sorts of products out of wood. This documentary was
created to tell a part of his story and show what he gets up to on a day to day basis.
Who the production was made for?
I didn't end up entering a competition as the main one i
wanted to enter didn't meet college standards. However this
production was produced for vibe productions and i'm happy
with what it has achieved.
Bts from production
These are some
behind the
scenes photos
from the shoot.
The aim of the
shoot was to
capture what he
gets up to in a
day.
platforms
So my actual production was uploaded to vimeo. The reason i
uploaded it to vimeo was because i wasn't happy with how
youtube crushes the quality of my videos when i upload them.
Vimeo doesn't do that as much hence why i used it. There are
some more elements for example there are some still images
on my cmp instagram account where i like to upload stills as
seen in the slide before.
Target audience
For my target audience research
one of the ways that i
researched into it was through
online forums. For example on
this screen shot on the left
you can see that it shows two
men who said they got into wood
work around 30 years of
age.these are a really useful
insight into what age group are
interested in wood work.
Idea generation
Originally i had the idea of creating a short film on a
mentaly insane guy who thought some trees where his friends
however after half term and a lot of thought i decided that
i didn't like that idea and was much more passionate about
creating a documentary. Instantly i thought of a polish
friend of mine who loves his part time job creating all
sorts of cool things out of wood. So i contacted him and he
was really up for being filmed.
adaption
Originally i was planning on filming it over the course of
three days but in the end we managed filming more than
enough footage in 1 day. There was no need for more footage
so i got straight into editing. Overall i was really pleased
with how the video turned out.
