Introduction
• A conventional 4 Stroke engine has
a Single Spark Plug and leads to
inefficient combustion.
• Required Basic design for :
i)Uniform power delivery in all
operating conditions.
ii)A high degree of drivability.
iii)Long service life.
So , What is DTSI ??
• Two spark plugs at
opposite ends of
combustion chamber.
• Hemispherical chambers,
piston heads.
• Helps in better fuel
efficiency and lower
emissions.
• Fast and efficient
combustion is obtained.
Main Characteristics
• Digital electronic ignition with two plugs per
cylinder and two ignition distributors.
• Twin overhead cams with camshaft timing
variation.
• Injection fuel feed with integrated electronic
twin spark ignition.
• A high specific power.
• Compact design with superior balance.
Engine comprises of…….???
• Four-in-line cylinder
• Light weight due to all Aluminum -
alloy engine block
• Eight counterweights ensure optimal
balancing of the high strength nitride
steel crankshaft
• The pressed-in cast iron cylinder
liners for more effective heat
dissipation
Valve Drive
• Valves directly acts in V-
configuration (46o).
• Valve timing Actuator operates
exhaust and intake valves.
• At high and medium-high engine
speeds, cylinder filling is optimal.
• At low and medium-low engine
speeds, fluctuation-free operation
is ensured with reduction in
specific fuel consumption.
Fuel Injection
• Fuel injection is used to
ensure excellent fuel
efficiency as well as
environmental friendliness.
• The fuel supply component
consists of fuel pump,
modularized regulator and
filter& a small injector.
• The injector injects finely
atomized spray of fuel
through 6 hole type injectors.
Ignition
• It is controlled by integrated digital
electronic control box called
Capacitor Distributed Ignition(CDI).
• DTSI yields:
1. More effective combustion at low
load and at idling speed.
2. A sizeable reduction in specific fuel
consumption.
3. Less chance of ignition system
failure.
Maiden DTSI
• First 4-wheeler to use DTS-i.
• It is a Superior model of Nano.
• The model is Bajaj RE6O.
• Engine Displacement -Four-
valve DTSi .
• Engine Model - DTSi.
• Engine Type - Petrol.

Mathematical Model
Mathematical Model
Advantages
• Better starting of engine even in
cold climatic conditions.
• Efficiently balances the
temperature of chambers and
other parts.
• Increase the Thermal Efficiency of
the Engine.
• Diameter of the flame increases
rapidly.
• Twin Spark plugs reduces the
soiling of plugs.
Disadvantages
• The engine tends to overheat and loose
power at higher speeds.
• Requires more investment for replacing
the plugs.
• The engine wear and tear is somehow
increased and hence these engines need
frequent checkup.
Statistics
The following are the various statistics showing the
advantages of application of DTSi & its derived technologies
i.e. the comparison of various aspects of 150 cc category and
125 cc category bikes.
So, finally I conclude…..
• Perfect Combustion in Internal
Combustion engine is not possible.
• DTSI system helps for instantaneous
burning of fuels.
• To overcome the requirements, new
patent DTS-i is introduced.
