Introduction
Solar power has had a futuristic sensibility for 70 years, but
rudimentary photovoltaic technology dates back nearly two
centuries. Edmond Becquerel first observed the phenomenon of
conversion of sunlight into electricity(photovoltaic effect)back in
1839 while experimenting with two silver-coated platinum
electrodes by placing them in an acidic solution and exposing one
of the electrodes to sunlight. Other scientists, working in the 1870s,
were able to turn light into electricity using the metal selenium.
Photovoltaic solar energy directly transforms sunlight into electricity
using a technology based on the photovoltaic effect.
Overall importance

The main importance of solar energy is that it combats climate

change, it does not emit greenhouse gases, so it does not
contribute to global warming. It is shown as one of the most
efficient renewable technologies in the fight against climate
change.
Specific importance

The energy is inexhaustible and is renewed available

throughout the world and adapts to natural cycles. Solar
energy is an autochthonous energy, available in practically
the entire planet, which contributes to reducing energy
imports and creating wealth and employment locally.
HOW DOES IT
WORK?
To enter into context, this is due to the "voltaic effect" and the "photoelectric
effect", when sunlight reaches the metal plate, they conduct currents and
Planck's quantum mechanics.

Photovoltaic transforms solar energy partially into electricity, this by potential

difference at two points in the cell.

The success for solar panels to have become so famous was because over
time their cost was reduced and efficiency increased. All thanks to Silicon,
which is fundamental in the manufacture of cells.
HOW DOES IT
Solar power is an intermittent source, and the stable and reliable output of a PV

system, whether for a dedicated load or for a grid, is critical from a utility
availability and reliability standpoint. Inverters allow the electricity produced by
the photovoltaic modules to be fed to the load and excess energy to the grid or
storage system.

At an industrial level, to date, it has not yet become what is being sought, as it
is not totally efficient.

At the home level (panels in houses), if there have been good results, with the
help of controllers and accumulators (battery). But keep in mind that the
efficiency depends on the Silicon crystal lattice with which the cell is made, it
can be monocrystalline and polycrystalline.
FUNCTIONS OF PHOTOVOLTAIC
SOLAR CELLS
Photovoltaic solar energy is that which is ADVANTAGES OF CLEAN

inexhaustible and non-polluting energy. no need to guard their waste once

has ended.
CONCLUSI
ONS
We have already seen that solar energy is a form of
clean, renewable, inexhaustible, sustainable energy,
generates electricity and is free, in addition to the fact
that the useful life expectancy of solar panels can
reach forty years, it is important because it reduces
dependence on fuels fossils and helps conserve
natural resources, so we must apply it to everyday life,
for example: photovoltaic panels that supply energy to
electrical devices and homes, collect solar heat energy
through thermal solar panels and is used in heating
water and spaces or in the cooling of areas in
buildings, among others
