performance in the eleventh grade of State Islamic Senior High School 1

1. Extroverted students are students who are sociable, friendly, talkative and
confident when they speak in front of many people.
2. Introvert personality is a personality that is closed, shy, and has little talk.
Introverted students tend to be nervous and not confident in speaking.

3. Speaking performance is the ability to communicate orally that involves
words and sounds and is an ability that everyone must have to convey
ideas or information to others and to prevent misunderstandings by the
listener.

2 1) A research by Yolla Agustriani (2020) with the title of the research is about
“A Comparative Study Between Extrovert and Introvert Students on Speaking

Performance at State Senior High School 4 Pekanbaru.” This research used
causal-comparative analysis design. The study was conducted to tenth science
grade students at State Senior High School 4 Pekanbaru with 252 students as a
sample. The issue with this research is there a significant difference between

extroverted and introverted students in the speaking performance in the tenth
grade of state senior high school 4 Pekanbaru. Research indicates that there is a
significant difference between extrovert and introvert students toward the
appearance of speaking in the tenth grade State Senior High School 4
Pekanbaru.

2) A research by Putri Septianah, Endang Susilawati, Iwan Supardi (2018) with

3 the title “Extrovert and Introvert Students and Their English Speaking
Performance.” This research aimed to investigate how the correlation of
Extrovert-Introvert personality towards speaking performance of the 2018
academic year students of speaking for academic presentation class of English

4 Education Study Program in Teacher Training and Education University of


Tanjungpura. The sample of this research was 20 students of speaking for
academic class which consist of 15 females and 5 males in the class. The result
of this research show the correlation and the effect between extrovert-introvert

5 personality in speaking performance is 0.5206 that indicate moderate


correlation between these variables.

1. H0: There is no significant difference between extroverted and intoverted
students in speaking performance in the eleventh grade of State Islamic

Islamic Senior High School Padang Lawas.

different groups, they are introvert and extrovert
students on their speaking performance.

Test Speaking. Test is a method of measuring a person‟s ability,

knowledge, or performance in a given domain.

The questionnaire in this study used a likert scale model consisting of several
2 items which developed from indicators of extrovert and introvert and the

questions adopted from Mark Parkinson Personality.

To find out how big the comparison between extroverted and introverted

students students on speaking performance, the researcher uses the Pearson
Product Moment correlation which can be formulated as follows:

4 2. T test (Partial Test)


This test used to determine whether the independent variable (X) has a
significant means the influence occurs can apply to the population. Where t
count > t table. H1 is accepted and H0 is rejected as well as if t count < t table,
5 then H0 is accepted and H1 rejected.
