THE EDUCATIONAL
DECREE OF 1863
The Educational Decree of 1863

◦ Law: A complete system of education from elementary to the collegiate level for Filipinos.

◦ Primary education was also declared free regardless of race or social class

◦ Establishing elementary schools for at least one for boys and for girls in each town.

◦ Attendance in school was compulsory between the ages of seven and twelve.
