Introduction:Introduction: Aonla (Emblica officinalis) or Indian (Emblica officinalis) gooseberry is indigenous to Indian subsubcontinent.  India ranks first in the world in area and production of this crop.

Nutritional aspect and economic importance:importance: The fruit is a very good source of vitamin C containing chemical substances called lucoenthocyanin and polyphenols which retard the oxidation of vitamin C.  Dried fruits are useful in haemorrhages, diarrhea, dysentery, anaemia, jaundice, dyspepsia and cough
