Network Based On Topology
Network topology is the arrangement of the
elements (links, nodes, etc.) of a communication
network. Work topology is the topological structure
of a network and may be depicted physically or
logically. Physical topology is the placement of the
various components of a network (e.g., device
location and cable installation), while logical topology
illustrates how data flows within a network .
MORE ABOUT TOPOLOGY

Examples of network topologies are found in local area

networks (LAN), a common computer network installation.
Any given node in the LAN has one or more physical links to
other devices in the network; graphically mapping these links
results in a geometric shape that can be used to describe the
physical topology of the network.
DIFFERENT TYPES OF TOPOLOGIES

In a computer network, there are mainly six types

of physical topology, they are:
1. Bus Topology.
2. Ring Topology.
3. Star Topology.
4. Mesh Topology.
5. Tree Topology.
6. Hybrid Topology.
BUS TOPOLOGY

Bus topology , also known as line topology, is a

type of network topology in which all devices in
the network are connected by one central RJ-45
network cable or coaxial cable. The single cable,
where all data is transmitted between devices, is
referred to as the bus, backbone, or trunk. The
purpose of the server is to exchange data
RING TOPOLOGY
Ring topology is a type of network topology in
which each device is connected to two other
devices on either side via an RJ-45 cable or
coaxial cable. This forms a circular ring of
connected devices which gives it its name. Data
is commonly transferred in one direction along
the ring, known as a unidirectional ring.
Star topology

Star topology is a network topology in which each

network component is physically connected to a
central node such as a router, hub or switch. In a star
topology, the central hub acts like a server and the
connecting nodes act like clients. Easy fault detection
because the link are often easily identified. No
disruptions to the network when connecting or
removing devices.
Mesh topology

A mesh topology is a network setup where

each computer and network device is
interconnected with one another. This topology
setup allows for most transmissions to be
distributed even If one of the connections goes
down. Advantages : Almost impossible to take
Tree topology

A tree topology, or star-bus topology, is a hybrid

network topology in which star networks are
interconnected via bus networks. Tree networks are
hierarchical, and each node can have an arbitrary
number of child nodes. Advantages : Easier detection of
error ; Failure of a solo node will not disturb the other
nodes.
Hybrid topology

Hybrid topology is an integration of two or more

different topologies to form a resultant topology which
has many advantages (as well as disadvantages) of all
the constituent basic topologies rather than having
characteristics of one specific topology. Compared to other
topology models, a hybrid topology is extremely flexible.
