PHYSICAL ACTIVITY

Defined as body movement produced by muscle


action that increases energy expenditure. It is
an encompassing term that includes physical
exercise.
HEALTH

Is a reflection of one’s overall physical, mental


and social well-being. It is much more than
simply an absence of disease.
TYPES OF FUNDAMENTAL
MOVEMENTS/ SKILLS
LOCOMOTOR

⮚ are the basic ways to move, the


building blocks of
coordination.
NON-LOCOMOTOR

⮚the body remains in place


and moves around its
horizontal or vertical axis
AXIAL MOVEMENT

⮚Involve moving or using an object


with the hands or feet
⮚Axial movements involve bending,
stretching, twisting, swinging,
gesturing, rising, rotating and
spinning.
PHYSICAL FITNESS

Is a state of health and well-being and most


especially, the ability to perform aspects of
sports, occupations and daily activities.

COMPOSITION

percentage of fat, bone, water
and muscle in human bodies.

ENDURANCE

⮚ Muscular endurance is defined


as the ability of the body to
perform repeated exercises
without getting tired.
MUSCLE STRENGTH

⮚ is the amount of force you


can put out or the amount
of weight you can lift..
SKILL RELATED COMPONENTS
OF FITNESS
AGILITY

⮚Ability to move and change


direction and position of the
body quickly and effectively
while under control.
BALANCE

⮚Balance is the ability of a


person to control human body
or to maintain equilibrium
while stationary or moving.
Or the ability to stay upright
or stay in control of body
movement,
COORDINATION

⮚Coordination is a performance-
related fitness component that
describes the smooth, efficient
movement patterns that are
parts of sports skills and task.
POWER

⮚Power is a skill-related
component of physical fitness
that relates to the ability to
exert a maximal force in as
short a time as possible, as in
accelerating, jumping and
throwing implements
REACTION TIME

⮚A skill-related component of
physical fitness that relates
the interval time between the
presentation of a stimulus
and the initiation of the
muscular response to that
stimulus.
SPEED

⮚Is the ability to move quickly across


the ground or move limbs rapidly to
grab or throw.

Significant health benefits are


seen in adults aged 65 years and
older who participate in regular
physical activity
FITNESS EXERCISE FOR PREGNANT

Most exercise are safe to


perform during pregnancy,
as you exercise with
caution and do not overdo
it.
DIFFERENT COMPONENTS OF
PHYSICAL ACTIVITY
There are obviously different types of physical activity that
develop different aspects of physical fitness. The most
important types of physical activity for health in children
and adolescents are:
1. Activities involving cardiovascular (aerobic) work,
2. Activities involving strength and/or muscular endurance,
3. Activities involving flexibility, and
4. Activities involving coordination
EXERCISE
PROGRAM
⮚MODE OF EXERCISE – a specific type of exercise to be
performed
⮚WARM-UP – is a brief period of exercise that precedes a
workout.
⮚WORKOUT/ PRIMARY CONDITIONING PERIOD –
are frequency, intensity, and duration (time) of exercise

⮚COOL-DOWN – is a period of low intensity exercise that


immediately follows the primary conditioning period
