1. Body Composition 1. Agility
2. Cardio-Vascular Endurance 2. Balance
3. Coordination
3. Flexibility 4. Speed
4. Muscular Strength 5. Reaction Time
5. Muscular Endurance 6. Power
Health-related physical fitness is also called functional fitness
because it helps ensure that a person will be able to function
effectively and meet the demands and tasks of everyday life.
Health-related physical fitness is associated with disease
prevention and functional health. Participating to health-related
fitness helps you control your weight, prevents diseases and
illnesses, improves your mood, boost energy, and helps you
with a good sleep.
In addition, health-related physical fitness includes aspects of
physiological functions that offer protection from lifestyle-
related conditions, primarily from sedentary lifestyle.
This refers to the measurement of body fat, bones,
muscle mass, and other vital parts of the body. A
healthy body composition is one that includes a
lower percentage of body fat and a higher
percentage of non-fat mass.

Also known as Aerobic Power, cardiorespiratory

endurance refers to the ability of the circulatory and
respiratory systems to send oxygen to muscles over an
extended period and to eliminate fatigue products after
supplying fuel.
This refers to the ability to move a joint smoothly
through its complete range of motion that allows a
person to do bending movements without incurring
injury.

This refers to the single maximum amount of force a muscle can exert against
some resistance. Activities that need good strength are lifting heavy weights
and pushing and pulling of heavy objects.
The ability of a muscle or group of muscles to sustain repeated
contractions against a resistance for long period of time without
excessive fatigue
Skill-related components refer to your ability to
perform physical tasks efficiently as it relates to a
sport.

The ability to change the position of your body and to

control the movement of your whole body with speed
and accuracy. Agility is an important quality in many
sports because you must change direction rapidly and
always have your body under control.

smoothly and accurately. I.E. eye-hand coordination.
This relates to the ability of the body to perform a movement
within a period of time. Speed is a very important factor in
many sports and activities. Short runs are used to evaluate
speed

It is the time elapsed between stimulation and the beginning of

the reaction to it. the amount of time it takes to start a movement
once your senses signal the need to move. People with good
reaction time can usually start quickly in track and swimming or
react quickly in ping pong or karate.
Power is the ability to move the body parts swiftly while applying
the maximum force of the muscles as in accelerating, jumping, and
throwing implements. Power is a combination of both speed and
muscular strength.
Physical fitness assessments are designed to give individualized feedback
regarding one’s overall fitness status and/or physiological reactions to physical
activity effort.

Physical fitness assessments are affected by one’s dietary intake, physical

activity, and stress management. These factors, in return, provide additional
information for assessing potential health risks associated with a person’s
current lifestyle.
1. Make individuals aware of their current fitness status and have them compare their own statis
with that of specific standards.
2. Encourage individuals to participate in exercise programs and physical activities.
3. Give a starting point for an individual exercise prescription or plan and create realistic goals
4. Evaluate development in fitness achieved through exercise interventions and adjust exercise
prescription and fitness goals accordingly
5. Records changes in fitness throughout the years of exercise involvement.
The Physical Activity Readiness Questionnaire (PAR-Q) is designed to
determine an individual’s safety when starting a new exercise plan. Most
people can start a exercise plan without worry; however, some people may
require a preliminary health check to ensure that they are taking on the right
level of activity for their medical condition.
