ACKNOWLEDGEMENT
This review would not have been possible without the exceptional support of my supervisor
Dr. M.N.MISHRA(HOD ME). His enthusiasm, knowledge and exacting attention to
detail have been an inspiration and kept my work on track from my first encounter with the
review work to the final draft of this review thesis. I pay my deep sense of gratitude to
Professor (Dr.) A.K.GUPTA. of Mechanical Engineering Department.
I would like to extend my gratitude to my parents for helping me a lot in finalizing this
project within the limited time frame.

Press brake
• MIG Welding
• TIG Welding
• AMADA Laser sheet metal cutting
PRESS BRAKE
• Bending is typically performed on a machine called press brake, which can
be normally or automatically operated. A press brake contains an upper tool
called the punch and a lower tool called die, between which the sheet metal
is located. The sheet is carefully positioned over the die and held in place by
the gauge while the punch lowers and forces the sheet to bend . While using
a press brake and standard die sets there are still a variety of techniques that
can be used to bend the sheets. The bend angle achieved is determined by the
depth to which the punch forces the sheet into the die. This depth is precisely
controlled to achieve the desired bend.
MIG
• Metal Inert Gas (MIG). This type of welding is basically an arc welding process that
joins two metals.
• This is done by heating the metals with the help of an arc.
• This arc is formed between the surface to be welled and a continuously fed filler
electrode.
• This type of welding uses a shielding gas to protect the molten pool of weld metal from
reacting with elements present in the atmosphere.
• MIG welding requires a DCEP (Direct Current Positive Electrode), also known as
Reverse Polarity.
TIG
• In the TIG welding process the arc is formed between a pointed
tungsten electrode and the workpiece in an inert atmosphere of
argon or helium. The small intense arc provided by the pointed
electrode is ideal for high quality and precision welding.
Because the electrode is not consumed during welding, the TIG
welder does not have to balance the heat input from the arc as
the metal is deposited from the melting electrode. When filler
metal is required, it must be added separately to the weldpool.
Laser metal cutting
• They are widely used in industrial environments to perform cutting,
marking, welding, cleaning, texturing, drilling and a lot more. They are
also used in other fields such as telecommunication and medicine.
• Fiber lasers use pump light from what is called laser diodes. These diodes
emit light that is sent into the fiber-optic cable. Optical components
located in the cable are then used to generate a specific wavelength and
amplify it. Finally, the resulting laser beam is shaped and released.
Here’s how each component is used to
perform this operation.
