ASKING AND GIVING DIRECTIONS

Knowing how to ask and give directions will make your visit to
an English-speaking country much easier!

• The way we ask for directions may affect the answer we get:
remember to be polite.
• Always start by saying hello, good morning/evening/afternoon,
excuse me.
• Finish by saying thank you, have a nice day.
ASKING FOR DIRECTIONS
Here are some useful phrases:
• Excuse me, how can I go to…? Perdone, ¿Cómo puedo ir a…?
• Where is the…? ¿Dónde está el/la…?
• How do I find the…? ¿Cómo encuentro el/la…?
• Can you show me on the map, please? ¿Podría mostrarmelo en
el mapa, por favor?
• I’m looking for this address. Estoy buscando esta dirección.

• Could you tell me how to get to…? ¿Me podría decir cómo
llegar a…?
GIVING DIRECTIONS
Giving directions may be a bit more difficult than asking for
them. First, you need to revise some prepositions of place.
