that portrayed revolt, labor unionism, social ostracism, and class
division.

• The directors of the New Wave either “tented toward exposing
relevant social topics or hybridizing Filipino topics with Western
techniques.
• Alternative film more independent filmmakers are products of film
schools were students are exposed to art films without “the
compromises of commercial filmmaking” .
THE DIGITAL MEDIA IN NEW WAVE
• With the coming of digital media in the late 90s and early 2000s. A
new Wave in digital art form emerge. The high definition format came
with the digital age and made it possible
FILM APPRECIATION
• According to Feldman (1981) offers a typology, a set of concepts to
direct the viewer’s attention to the principal elements in the cinema
experience. Its purpose is to suggest the range of qualities within
each element of film.
TYPOLOGY OF CINEMATIC FORM
• The typology should assist you in describing and analyzing the film
experience before proceeding to interpret and judge it. This device
should enable you to attend to all sources of imaginary in the cinema-
visual, aural, kinetic and verbal- while endeavoring a fathom their
interaction and overall meaning.
