Global Warming

Outline
Modern global warming is the result of an increase in magnitude of the so-
called greenhouse effect, a warming of Earth’s surface and lower atmosphere
caused by the presence of water vapour, carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous
oxides and other greenhouse gases.

It has been estimated that, at the beginning of the industrial age in the mid-
18th century, carbon dioxide concentrations in the atmosphere were roughly
280 parts per million (ppm). By the end of 2021 they had risen to 416 ppm.

Global warming considers the causes of rising near-surface air temperatures,

the influencing factors, the process of climate research and forecasting, the
possible ecological and social impacts of rising temperatures, and the public
policy developments since the mid-20th century.
Causes of Global Warming

Global warming leads and continues to cause climate change. Climate change can cause rising sea levels, destruction of
communities, as well as extreme weather conditions. Here are 10 causes of global warming that are contributing to the
climate crisis.

• Over fishing
As the fishes are one of the main source of proteins for the humans, they are buying and consuming a lot of fishes
which is effecting the marine life.

• Industrialisation
The waste produced by the industries ends up in the landfills and our surrounding environment. It is also polluting the
atmosphere and the soil.

• Farming
Farming is taking up space which is destroying the green spaces affecting our local environment.

• Transport and Vehicles

A large amount of vehicles are used for transportation and fossil fuels needs to be burned in order for them to run. So,
the burning of fossil fuels releases carbon dioxide which additionally pollutes our environment.
Effects of Global Warming
• Global Warming is causing ice to melt which is contributing in the rise in sea level.

• Rising temperature are effecting the wildlife and their habitats.

• The rise in temperature is causing many animals to move to more cooler place.

• Precipitation (rain and snowfall) has increased across the globe, on average. Yet some regions are
experiencing more severe drought, increasing the risk of wildfires, lost crops, and drinking water
shortage.

• The effects of Global Warming has also caused serious health problems such as, infectious diseases,
heat waves, asthma and respiratory issues and loss of agricultural productivity.
