What is Factoring
Polynomials?
Factoring Polynomials

Factoring a polynomial is the process of
decomposing a polynomial into a product
of two or more polynomials. For
example, f ( x ) = x 2 + 5 x + 6 f(x) = x^2
+ 5x + 6 f(x)=x2+5x+6 can be
decomposed into. f(x) = (x+3)(x+2) .
f(x)=(x+3)(x+2).
Factoring Out The Greatest Common Factor

1. Find the GCF of all the terms in the polynomial.

2. Express each term as a product of the GCF and another
factor.
3. Use the distributive property to factor out the GCF.
What is Factoring
Quadratic Equation?
Factoring Quadratic Inequality..

● Often the easiest method of solving a quadratic

equation is factoring. Factoring means finding
expressions that can be multiplied together to
give the expression on one side of the
equation. If a quadratic equation can be factored,
it is written as a product of linear terms.
Factoring Quadratics Examples

(2x + 3)(x + 3) = 2x2 + 3x + 6x + 9 = 2x2 + 9x + 9.
Answer: Hence, (2x+3) and (x+3) are the
linear factors of the quadratic equation
f(x) = 2x.

What is Rational
Expression?
Rational Expression..

Just for your own benefit, we define a rational number as a

number expressed in the form of p/q where it is not equal to
zero. ... Examples of rational expression are 5/x − 2, 4/(x + 1),
(x + 5)/5, (x2 + 5x + 4)/(x + 5), (x + 1)/(x + 2), (x2 + x + 1)/2x.
