Basic types of computer hardware

1. Mouse - sometimes called a pointer, is a

hand-operated input device used to manipulate
objects on a computer screen.
- Whether the mouse uses a laser or ball, or is
wired or wireless, a movement detected from the
mouse sends instructions to the computer to
move the cursor on the screen in order to
interact with files, windows, and other software
elements.
TYPES OF MOUSE
1. OPTICAL MOUSE - is a computer mouse
which uses a light source, typically a light-
emitting diode (led)
1. MECHANICAL MOUSE- mechanical
mouse is a computer mouse that contains a
metal or rubber ball on its under side. When the
ball is rolled in any direction, sensors inside the
mouse detect this motion and move the on-
screen mouse pointer in the same direction.

Trackball: A
trackball has a
ball that can
rotate freely.
Instead of moving
the device like a
mouse, you can
roll the ball with
your thumb to
move the pointer.

It is where the
PALM REST palm is placed.
2. MONITOR- is often used synonymously with "computer screen" or
"display." the monitor displays the computer's user interface and open
programs, allowing the user to interact with the computer, typically using the
keyboard and mouse.
3. COMPUTER CASE - is the metal and
plastic box that contains the main
components of the computer, including the
motherboard, central processing unit
(cpu), and power supply. the front of the
case usually has an on/off button and one or
more optical drives.
4. keyboard- is one of the primary input
devices used with a computer. similar to an
electric typewriter, a keyboard is composed
of buttons that create letters, numbers, and
symbols, as well as perform other functions.

4. PRINTER -is an external hardware
output device that takes the electronic data
stored on a computer or other device and
generates a hard copy of it. for example, if
you created a report on your computer you
could print several copies to hand out at a
staff meeting
5. WEBCAM- is a hardware camera and
input device that connects to a computer
and the internet and captures either still
pictures or motion video of a user or
another object.
6. JOYSTICK - is an input device that
allows the user to control a character or
machine in a computer program, such as a
plane in a flight simulator. they look similar
to the control device you would find on an
arcade game, but nearly always include
extra buttons for additional functionality.
7. computer speaker - is a hardware device that
connects to a computer to generate sound.
connects to a telephone or computer that
allow the user to talk and listen while
keeping their hands free. headsets are
commonly used in technical support and
customer service centers and allows the
employee to talk to a customer while typing
information into a computer.
9. Microphone - is a hardware peripheral and
input device that allows computer users to
input audio into their computers.
10. a scanner or optical scanner - is a
hardware input device that optically "reads"
and image and converts it into a digital
signal. for example, a scanner may be used
to convert a printed picture, drawing, or
document (hard copy) into a digital file
which can be edited on a computer.
