Engr. Mark Jexter A. Sibayan

What is Transportation Engineering?
Transportation engineering is a branch of civil
engineering that is involved in the planning, design,
operation, and maintenance of safe and efficient
transportation systems. These systems include roadways,
railways, waterways, and intermodal operations.
Application of Water Resources Engineering

Transport engineering is the application

of scientific and technological principles in the
planning, functional design, operation and
facilities management for any means of
transport (road, rail, water and air) in order to
provide a safe, fast, comfortable, convenient,
economic travel for people and goods.
Types of Transportation Engineering
Railroad engineering is an interdisciplinary engineering field dedicated to building
better, faster, more efficient rail systems. The railroad industry uses these special
engineers to care for and plan railway systems that can transport goods and people.
Types of Transportation Engineering
Port and harbor engineers handle the design, construction, and operation
of ports, harbors, canals, and other maritime facilities.
Types of Transportation Engineering
Airport engineering is the design, building, and maintenance of an airport
facility. Airports are designed to serve a number of roles. Key functions include
providing runways for aircraft to take off and land, as well as terminals for the
safe loading and unloading of passengers and cargo.
