A word that refers to a characteristic of a noun
or pronoun.
Examples:

1. Descriptive Adjective or Adjectives of Quality
🢝Show the quality of a noun or pronoun.
🢝Adjectives of Quality answer the question : Of what kind ?
🢝Examples:
🢝Pretty girl, yellow flower, cute puppy, etc.
2. Proper Adjective
🢝Adjectives formed from proper nouns are called proper adjectives.
🢝Examples:
🢝Italian pizza, French wines, Turkish tobacco, etc.
3. Adjectives of Quantity
🢝Show the quantity of a noun or pronoun.
🢝Adjectives of Quantity answer the question: How
much?
🢝Examples:
🢝He showed much patience.
🢝He has lost all his wealth.
4. Numeral Adjectives or Adjectives of Number
🢝Show how many persons or things are meant.
🢝Examples:

exercise.

Numeral Adjectives are of three
kinds:-

3. 🢝Distributive
1. Definite Numeral Adjectives
🢝 Definite Numeral Adjectives are the set of
cardinal and ordinal numbers.
🢝Definite Numeral Adjectives are:

2. Indefinite Numeral Adjectives

Numeral Adjectives are:

3. Distributive Numeral Adjectives
🢝Adjectives which refer to each one of a number.
🢝Distributive Numeral Adjectives are:
Each, every, either, neither
🢝Examples:

5. Possessive Adjectives
🢝Express ownership or possession.
🢝Examples:

🢝 Our laptops are new.
🢝 The cat is moving its tail.

6. Demonstrative Adjective
🢝 Used to refer people or things near or far
from the speaker in terms of distance and time.
🢝Point out which person or thing is meant.
🢝Examples:
🢝This Boy, That Chair, These Shoes, Those Pens, etc.
7. Distributive Adjectives
🢝Used to refer people or things individually among
many.
🢝Distributive Adjectives are:
each, every, either, neither, any, one
Examples:

medicine.

8. Interrogative Adjective
🢝They used with noun to ask questions.
🢝Interrogative Adjectives are:
Who, whom, whose, which, what

9. Emphasizing Adjectives
🢝Used to emphasize a noun.
🢝‘Very’ and ‘own’ are the most commonly used
emphasizing adjectives

10. Exclamatory Adjectives
🢝They give the sense of exclamation.

1. Positive Degree

🢝Describe the quality of a noun or pronoun.

2. Comparative Degree

🢝It is used to compare one noun or pronoun with


another.
Examples:
🢝Ali is taller than Ahmad.
🢝She is more beautiful than Sara.
3. Superlative Degree

🢝It is used to compare one thing with all.


Examples:
🢝Ali is tallest boy.
🢝Sara is most beautiful girl.
Attributive Adjective
🢝 Adjectives in first position – before the noun –
are called attributive adjectives.
Examples:
🢝That is a cute puppy.
🢝That was a clever idea.
Predicative Adjective
🢝When adjective comes after noun, it is predicative.
Examples:
🢝That puppy looks cute.
🢝I am getting tired.
