Fan Motor
• It controls the air circulation both the the high low side of
the system
• It run the high, medium, low speeds
• It uses a two blade shafting. One is for radial and the other
for axial fan blade.
• The blade is responsible for the cooling of the condenser coil
and the radial fan scoops the air from the lower portion of
the room then throws it into the upper part of the ceiling,
that needs more cooling because dry air rises.
• To direct airflows these fan blades are enveloped by two air
devices. The COWL directs the air stream of the radial fan https://bit.ly/2SEO1gK
blade and the SHOURD for axial fan projecting the
condenser.
 Basic Parts of Fan Motor
1. Stator. Part of the motor fan where the windings
are winded
2. Motor fan Windings. These windings are resemble
the compressor motor, but it may have six poles or
more. This fan motor has 2 or 3 speeds.
3. Rotor. Is part of fan motor that spins and makes
the fan blades to scoop and circulate air.
4. End Plates. These are two covers that hold the
bushing of the motor on both ends.
5. Rotor shaft. Its long round bar where the two
blades are attached with allen screw.
6. Metal Case. This is the casting that covers the
whole mechanism.
7. Leads. These terminals are connections of the fan
motor where to select the speeds and other
electrical tappings.
Types of Fan Motor according number of leads
Three Leads Fan Motor
This type of fan motor has three
electrical connections. The internal
connection of this motor is like a single
phase electrical wiring of motor
compressor. This fan motor has three
leads of different color. They are BLACK
for HIGH FAN or COOL, RED for FAN
capacitor(Starting) and WHITE is for
LINE or capacitor.

Four Leads Fan Motor
This type of fan motor is like the rest 3
speed by electrical designed. Since
there are 4 leads, there are also
corresponding colors, it has the MAIN
winding, START and AUXILLARY
MAIN(Starting). They are; WHITE is for
LINE or for capacitor, RED is for FAN
CAPACITOR, BLACK is for HIGH FAN or
HIGH COOL, and BLUE is for LOW FAN
or LOW COOL.

Five Leads Fan Motor
This third kind of fan motor having 5
leads from the 4 groups of windings.
Since there are 5 leads, there are also
corresponding colors, it has the MAIN
winding, START and AUXILLARY
MAIN(Starting). They are; WHITE is for
LINE or for capacitor, RED is for FAN
CAPACITOR, BLACK is for HIGH FAN or

RED
HIGH COOL, BROWN for MEDIUM FAN
or MEDIUM COOL and BLUE is for
LOW FAN or LOW COOL.

Six Leads Fan Motor
The fourth kind of fan motor with six
leads has their function in the circuit. 6 Leads Fan Motor
Using the color code; they are; WHITE

YELLOW
is for LINE , RED and YELLOW is for
FAN CAPACITOR, BLACK is for HIGH
FAN or HIGH COOL, BROWN for
MEDIUM FAN or MEDIUM COOL and
BLUE is for LOW FAN or LOW COOL.

NOTE: COLOR CODING IS NOT STARNDARD,

MEANING NOT ALL BRANDS USE THE
SAME COLOR FOR SPECIFIC SPEED AND
CIRCUIT CONNECTION.
