Site Layout:
Definition:
"graphic representation of the
arrangement of buildings, parking,
drives, landscaping and any other
structure that is part of a
development project".[1]
DESCRIPTION:

• A plan in which the

arrangements of placing
site office , store rooms ,
labour quarter , warehouse
for keeping construction
materials and other
facilities is called a site
layout plan.
Description:
• The arrangements of
processes should be
smooth and in orderly
manner.
• There should be proper
correlation and co-
ordination among different
units in layout.
What layout describes?
• A site layout is a skilled art which describes the
following features in the drawing:

1-Entry / Exit point on the site.

2-Warehouse for the storage of stocks.

3-Space for labour housing and its related activities.

4-Site office( Project manager+ Resident Engineer).

5-Security( Guards room).

For Example:
Factors Affecting Site Layout:
• Location , area and
topography of site.
• Method of construction.
• Nature and type of work.
• Requirement of site office,
store rooms , labour quarter,
availability of space and
availability of resources.
Why it is necessary for having site layout??

• To save time and cost.

• For security of materials on
site.
• To store construction
materials on site.
• To use equipment
machinery in order to save
time and cost.
Key Points For Making Site Layout:
• Fencing and Hoarding at
site is must for safety and
identification of projects.
• Machines should be at
most perfect location.
• Sufficient space is needed
near the work for labour
productivity.

Labor Productivity
• Definition:
• Labour productivity is the
measure of how much output
is produced per unit of labour
input, for instance, per worker.
Higher productivity means that
a business produces more
output for each worker it employs.
Importance of Productivity in Construction

Construction productivity is a vital

component of any building
project, without it projects
become delayed and budgets
quickly become overwhelmed.
This is why it is vital that you
ensure all of your contract
workers are singing from the same
hymn sheet in terms of your
project vision and deadline.
Types of Labour Productivity
4 types of productivity
measures
• Capital productivity.
• Material productivity.
• Labor productivity.
• Total factor productivity.
Problem we face by using this productivity
formula
It is concluded that direct work is
moderately correlated to delay
and support work activities. But in
the support activity, material
handling and travelling are weakly
correlated to direct work. It is
established that personal and
preparatory works positively
influence the overall direct work.

and waiting, and tools and
equipment negatively influence it.
Hence in order to maximize labor
productivity, direct as well as
support work activities should be
efficiently managed. Further,
planning, coordination and
supervision are essential for
increasing the effectiveness of
employees and maintaining the
required daily output level.
Regression and correlation for direct work with
other activities.
