What is Cyber Literacy for
Digital Age?
It equips students with the
knowledge, tools, and resources
they will need to adapt, grow, and
stay safe in today's ever-changing
technological world. This textbook
covers an array of cyber and
digital literacy topics that are
current and relative to today's "hi-
tech" savvy students.
Earliest real
"computers" built
during WWII
ENIAC, in full Electronic Numerical
Integrator and Computer, the first
programmable general-purpose
electronic digital computer, built
during World War II by the United
States.
American engineer J. Presper
Eckert, Jr., and their colleagues at
the Moore School of Electrical
Engineering at the University of
Pennsylvania led a government-
funded project to build an all-
electronic computer. Under
contract to the army and under
the direction of Herman Goldstine,
work began in early 1943 on
ENIAC. The next year,
mathematician John von
Neumann began frequent
consultations with the group.
Digital
or
Electronic Media
Electronic media are media
that use electronics or
electromechanical audience
to access the content. ... Most
new media are in the form of
digital media. However,
electronic media may be in
either analogue electronics
data or digital electronic
data format.

Reality,' 'Virtual
Space,' and 'Virtual
Environment' (VE)
are used
interchangeably to
describe a computer-
simulated place or
environment with
which users can
interact via an
interface.
The Cyber World
and
Cyberspace
Cyber world :
Modern world
of computers
Modern Society relies
heavily on computers,
without computer
systems there would be
chaos.
Cyberspace :
Online
environment
1. The computer-
mediated space in
which online distance
education occurs, often
asynchronous and
Web-based.
2. The
environment used
to conduct
electronic
transactions.
3.A virtual learning experience
where individuals who are involved
in the learning are not located
physically close to one another, but
can be located at any distance from
one another, and interact with
learning platforms to share
information and apply knowledge
and skills for learning assessment.
4.Can be intended as all
virtual facilities firms
can shape and use to
keep in touch with the
external ‘world’.
Cyber
Literacy
Knowing how
to use
software
In order to use a
software application
with students
productively, an
educator must have
first-hand
knowledge of the
application itself.
Conducting
Research Online
Electronic resources are
abounding, and they can be of
very high quality. The best
way to find peer-reviewed,
high-quality journal articles
for your online research is to
access them through your
online library, or to purchase
the articles through an article
provider.
However, there are
excellent sources that are
both accurate and of high
quality on the Web, and
they are often free and not
password protected.
