What is Communication?
Communication means transferring
thoughts, information, emotion, and ideas
through gestures, voice, symbols, signs,
and expressions from one person to
another. Three things are most important
and essential in any communication
process they are Sender, Receiver, and the
Channel (medium)

Two Basic Types of Communication
1. Verbal communication- language is the most useful
tool of communication as it can convey ideas, and
messages easily if the parties to the communication
understand the language used.
A. Oral communication is the interchange of verbal
messages between senders and receivers
 Speeches and presentations
 Interviews
B. Written communication is a creative activity that requires
a lot of imagination and effort to arrive at the final product.
 Letters
 Circular
 Orders
 Reports
 Form and questionnaires
2. Non-Verbal Communication - describes the process of conveying meaning in the form
of a non-word message.
A. Sign Language - people today do not communicate
through words only but also make use of signs and
symbols in communication. Sign language includes all
forms of symbols which replace words and numbers.

B. Body language - is a form of non-verbal communication,


which includes actions and mannerisms such as:
 Facial expressions
 Posture
 Head movement
 Eye contact
