THE SCHOOL IS AFFILIATED TO THE CBSE.
THIS IS THE FIRST INDIAN IGBC CERTIFIED
SCHOOL.
NEWTOWN SCHOOL THE NEWTOWN LIES ON 3M ABOVE THE
SEA LEVEL,IT HAS A TROPICAL CLIMATE. IN
WINTERS THERE IS MUCH LESS RAINFALL
THAN THE SUMMER.

CONCEPT
KEEPING IN MIND THE LOCATION OF THE SCHOOL IN THE NEWTOWN AREA OF KOLGATA AND ITS SIMPLE
SURROUNDINGS THIS SCHOOL NEEDED TO MAKE AN IMPACT AND ESTABLISH A DISTINCT IDENTITY.

THE APPROACH WAS TO CREATE A SCREEN THAT WRAPS AROUND THE BUILDINGS AND UNIFIES THEM
VISUALLY. THE SCREEN WAS CREATED WITH A STRONG CHARACTER SO THAT ITS CONTIONOUS
APPLICATION ACROSS THE BUILDING BY ITSELF WOULD PROVE TO BE A UNIFYING ELEMENT. ONE
APPROACHES THE SITE ALONG THE INNER CURVE AND THE BLOCKS ARE PLACED AT A SLIGHT ANGLE
FACING EACH OTHER VERY SLIGHTLY.

FOR THE SCREEN. 488 PANELS,MADE OF FIBRE- GRID STRUCTURE.THE SERVICES THE CEILING IS A BURST OF
REINFORCED PLASTIC(FRP) MEASURING 3.2 x 3.2 ABOVE THE FALSE CEILING WERE DYNAMISM WITH A WAVE
F METERS ENVELOP EACH OF THE TWO ACADEMIC
BLOCKS.THESE HAVE BEEN PLACED IN VARIOUS
PAINTED BLACK. PATTERN. LIGHT FIXTURES WERE
DESIGNED INTEGRATED WITHIN

E ORIENTATIONS TO ACHIEVE A RANDOMIZED EFFECT

THE INTERIORS OF THE SCHOOL CLASSROOMS, LABS AND LIBERAL ARTS
FACILITIES WERE DESIGNED TO BE VIBRANT AND INTERESTING WHILE
ALLOWING SPACE FOR THE CHILDREN’S CREATIVITY TO BE DISPLAYED.

FIRE-TENDER ACCESS ETC WERE PAVED USING GRASS PAVERS TO
INTEGRATE THEM AS LANDSCAPE EXTENSIONS.
