Material Self

•The self is everything that an

individual considers to be his or
hers, not only his or her body
and material possessions but
also his other reputation and
beliefs (William James).

•Added that the self is

composed of the material self
which is the manifestation of
one's identity through his
material possessions.

•The clothes that people wear
•House, car, pets and other things that he or she
considers as his or her possessions
•People (valuable individual relationships) maybe one’s
immediate and extended family members as well as
close friends with whom one feels psychologically
connected.
Body
Intentionally, we are investing in our body. We are directly
attached to this commodity that we cannot live without. We strive
hard to make sure this body functions well. Any silent directly
effects us. We do have certain preferential attachment or intimate
clos into certain body parts because of its value to us.
