Applications of VR

By-Archita Mundhara.
VR-It stands for Virtual reality .

 Although the video game industry is one of

the largest promoters of VR, yet, its
applications are not limited to just the
gaming industry .Some of the applications of
VR are as follows:-
1.Science and engineering.

 Using of VR, we can visualize and study almost all

types of object-be it atoms and molecules , buildings,
body functions ,etc .
 This helps in better understanding of the scientific

processes in detail.
 Science is the body of knowledge that explores

the physical and natural world.

  Engineering is the application of knowledge in

order to design, build and maintain a product or

a process that solves a problem and fulfills a
need
2.Practical training.
 VR training is a good alternative to live training.
 This is because live training is expensive, difficult

to administer repeatedly , and sometimes

dangerous too.
 For instant ,pilots going for training use

simulated cockpits that give them a real-time

experience using VR-based technology.
 Similarly prospective surgeons can train students

or doctors using virtual tools . even virtual drills

can be done to train firefighters ,police and
military personnel.
3.Treatment of mental illeness
 Using VR-based technology, mentally ill patients can be exposed
to therapies and monitored in a controlled environment .
 This helps to overcome various phobias as people learn to deal

with themselves and their fears in safe virtual environment.

 The mainstay of treatment is usually medication, talk therapy or a

combination of the two. Increasingly, research suggests that

these treatments may normalise brain changes associated with
depression.
4. Architecture and designs
 VR is used to generate prototypes of houses,
buildings and their
interiors ,bridges ,automobiles , etc.
 These prototypes can be modified to see and

analyse the designs in complete totality.

 Almost all manufacturing companies use VR

to first analyse the viability of the product

before manufacturing .
5.Education
 Education is very important for students to
bright there future.
 Students can get better understanding of the

concepts by experimenting on VR platform.

 In addition to this, students find this more

interesting than other conventional teaching

methods.
6.Movies
 Movies, or films, are a type of visual communication which
uses moving pictures and sound to tell stories or teach people
something. Most people watch (view) movies as a type
of entertainment or a way to have fun. For some people, fun
movies can mean movies that make them laugh, while for
others it can mean movies that make them cry, or feel afraid.
 Movies are being made using VR to give viewers a real-time

experience , especially the science friction movies.

 The viewers actually feels part of the movie , which makes it

more thrilling for them.

 Movies like THE MATRIX and GAMER have given their

viewers a thrilling experience using VR technology.

7.Gaming
 A video game is an electronic game that
involves interaction with a user interface or
input device – such as a joystick, controller,
keyboard, or motion sensing device – to
generate visual feedback for a player.
 The gaming industry is the most extensive user

of VR.
 Modern games like Tetris Effect, X-box ,

Arizona Sunshine ,etc .. Come with a headset

support that gives the players a fully immersive
virtual environment .
