School of Manila in 1817
 It was change as Ateneo Municipal
 Currently known as Ateneo de Manila
 A college under the supervision of
Spanish Jesuits

Ateneo Education is far more advanced than the other schools that time.

-It trained the character of students by rigid discipline and religious


instruction
-. It introduced physical culture as part of its program as well as the
cultivation of the arts, such as music, drawing, and painting
-vocational courses in agriculture, commerce, and mechanics as a
religious institute.

Students were divided into two groups:

1. Roman Empire
consisting of the internos (boarders) with red banners

 2. Carthaginian Empire
composed of the externos (non-boarders) with blue banners

  2nd best: tribune
  3rd best: Decurion
  4th best: centurion
  5th best: Standard-bearer
Rizal was placed at the bottom of
the class since he was a newcomer and
knows little Spanish. He was an Externo
(Carthaginians) , occupying the end of
the line. But at the end of the month,
he become Emperor of his Empire.
