Obayied gas facilities consist of:

fingers type slug catcher
five separate trains, each consisting of:
- A three phase separator
- Mercury removal unit
- A gas and A condensate metering
- Fuel gas conditioning skid
- Two gas fired water bath heaters.
air compressor
closed drain
water treatment Unit
flare knock-out drum
HP flare
cold vent
evaporation pond
HOME

• A 24’’ pipeline (40 KM long) to QSOL to SHAMS and 18’’ pipeline (43 KM long)
delivers the well fluid to Obayied.
• Remotely actuated line block valves are installed along the pipelines; one on the
Qasr to shams pipeline and another one on shams to Obayied pipeline.
• Gas flows via a slug catcher to even out any fluctuations in liquid flow, and then
enters one of five trains.
• Each train starts with a 3 phase separator which split the incoming fluid into gas
that is sent to the mercury removal system and following fiscal metering,
condensate which is metered and water which is sent to water treatment unit and
then to the evaporation pond.

The gas and condensate combined after being metered for heating by two water bath
heater up to 80 C, and then exported to Bapetco.
HOME

Design conditions
• The inlet pressure 91 barg, Temperature 35 C

• The export gas pressure 86 bar, temperature 80 C

• The rate is nominated by Bapetco (about 240 MMSCFD)

HOME

Mercury Removal Unit

Gas first enters coalescer filters to remove any liquids.
Gas is heated by the exported gas by Gas/Gas Heat
Exchanger.
Then, the gas flows through a guard bed to remove
Mercury.
A Particle filter removes any particles escaped with the
gas.
HOME

Water Bath Heater

Heating is achieved by passing the fluid through a 6’’
coil submerged in a hot water bath for TR 1,2,3 & Tri-
Ethylene Glycol bath for TR 4,5.
Two heaters in parallel arrangement are provided, 50%
capacity each.
The water temperature 110 C & TEG temperature is 140
C.
The gas heated up to 80 C.
The design rate of each heater is 50 MMSCFD.
HOME

Fuel Gas Skid

Fuel gas pressure reduced to 4 barg for TR 1,2,3 & 10 barg for TR
4,5.
Two parallel trains are provided, one in operation and the other
in stand-by.
Each train has two pressure reduction valves, one is set at 45 barg
and the other at 4 barg.
The fuel gas passed through knock out vessel to separate any
liquid formed after reducing the pressure.
Heating fuel gas by the WBH is necessary as temperature drops
while reducing pressure and liquid formation could result.
Fuel gas must be filtered by cartridge filter to remove any solid
particles that could stuck in pressure reducing valves trim.

Northern Pipeline Boost Compression - 51

HOME

 Due to Salam Gas Plant Expansion a requirement for compression was

raised, compression was required in the Northern Pipeline in order to
facilitate the increased gas production arising as a result of the Qasr
development.

 Gas flow increase from 660 MMSCFD to 965 MMSCFD.

 Boost compression was the most cost effective.
 On April 2009 installed the compression station on the WDGP at the
location of the second block valve downstream from the delivery point
of Tarek gas plant into the pipeline. This location avoided the need for
an extended pipeline shutdown.
