Before starting

 At what kinematics are applied ?

 Why do we need kinematics?

Kinematics
 Kinematics are a mechanic part that studies the movement of bodies that are not subjected
to any force.

 Definition of point:
We call a point every solid whose dimensions are neglected in comparison with a
characteristic length.

𝑾
Example :Ball on a table
𝑫
 Dimension : is the diameter of the ball
 The characteristic length : Table’s width
Why do we need system of coordinates ?
Plan coordinates

Cartesian coordinates in the plan :

 We have from the precedent figure,

(x, y, z) represents the Cartesian coordinates of the point M in the referential R

Then the elementary displacement vector can be written as :
Coordinates in the plan

 Polar coordinates
Coordinates in the plan :

 Elementary displacement vector

Coordinates in the space

Cartesian coordinates

 We have from the precedent figure,

(x, y, z) represents the Cartesian coordinates of the point M in the referential R

Then the elementary displacement vector can be written as :
 Velocity vector:
We know that :

And :

Then :

We can write too:

 Acceleration Vector:
We know that:

Then:

With :

1. Find the velocity of M

2. Deduct the expression of the acceleration
3. Find the trajectory equation
Activity 2
 A particle M is moving on the x-axis with an acceleration defined as:

1. Give the expression of knowing that

2. Find the expression of the position vector with .
3. Show that
Activity 3
 In this exercise we study the movement of electrons in a cathode ray tube.
of an oscilloscope, see figure below. The electrons start from the point O with a velocity ,
