approach
GROUNDED THEORY
is a research method concerned with the
generation of theory, which is "grounded"
in data that has been systematically
collected and analyzed.
GROUNDED THEORY
It was developed in California, USA by
Barney Glaser and Anselm Strauss during
their study—‘Awareness of Dying’.

Theoretical S a m p l i n g
Glaser and Strauss (1967) first mentioned
theoretical sampling and described a
process of generating theory from data
which includes collecting the data, then
coding and analysing the data.

Summary
By using Grounded Theory and adhering to
this as a research method, a theory will
be produced that is grounded in your
data.
It is a research method w hich uses strict
procedures for data analysis and will
enable you to search for and conceptualize
the hidden social and collective patterns
and constructions in your area of interest.
