General Assembly
The United Nations General
Assembly is made up of all United
Nations member states.
The Assembly meets once a year,
which usually begins on the third
Tuesday in September and ends in
mid-December. The
first meeting was held on 10
January 1946.

Security Council
The United Nations Security
Council (UNSC) is one of six main
parts of the United Nations. The
Security Council deals with
maintaining peace and security
between nations.

Economic And Social


Council
Its job is to coordinate many parts of
the United Nations. It has 54 members.
It meets in April and July. At these
meetings, the members talk about
economic and social issues, and make
recommendations to countries about
how to make the world a better place.

Trusteeship Council
The Trusteeship Council, one of the
main organs of the UN, was established
to supervise the administration of trust
territories as they transitioned from
colonies to sovereign nations.

International Court of
Justice
It is the main judicial organ or branch of
the United Nations. In short,
International Court of Justice is ICJ;
sometimes people call it the World
Court.

Secretariat
The Secretariat carries out the
substantive and administrative work of
the United Nations as directed by the
General Assembly, the Security Council
and the other organs. At its head is the
Secretary-General, who provides overall
administrative guidance.
