General Description and Classification
• The inland Taipan lives in outback Australian and is rarely seen by
humans. The Inland Taipan is a shy snake but don’t let that fool you.
This snake has the deadliest venom of any snake in Australia or the
planet. The venom of this snake is so deadly the prey is killed nearly
instantly. The venom contains a chemical and enzymes that speeds up
the spread of the spread of the venom through the body of the prey.
• Inland taipan is classified as reptilian or a reptile.
• The aboriginal people call this reptile Dandarbilla.

• The inland taipan likes dry and
arid place. To keep cool during a
summer’s day the Inland taipan
retreats under ground. The
inland taipan lives around desert
areas. It can be seem in the
following states Queensland and
South Australia. The yellow mark
is where the inland taipan lives.

Breeding Cycle
• The male Taipan peaks in sexuality at 16 months and the female taipan at 28
months.
• After mating the female Taipan will lay 3-21 soft shelled eggs.
• They are hidden under hollow logs and tree roots. The female Taipan doesn’t
mate every year because it requires too much energy.
• Inland Taipans eggs are covered in amniotic fluid.

How It Hunts
• The Inland taipan will chase it’s prey into a corner or crack so it can’t
escape.
• The inland taipan is very shy and keeps it’s distance from humans.
• It will corner it’s prey in cracks or borrows.
• This reptile hunts early in the morning when it’s cool and can be seen
in the daytime.
• A small animal is dead before the inland taipan lets go.
Why Is It Dangerous
• The inland taipan is the most dangerous snake in the world because
it’s venom can kill it’s prey instantly.
• A single bite can inject 110mg of venom this can kill 100 humans and
250 thousand mice.
• If a bite is left untreated it can kill someone with in 30 to 45 minutes.
• Inland Taipans are quick to defend themselves if they are disturb.
• The venom of the inland taipan is adapted to kill warm blooded
animals.
What Is It’s Prey
• The inland taipan preys on long
haired rats, mice and plain rats .
Inland taipans staple food is mice
in the summer time. The inland
taipan will corner rats in their
burrows or deep cracks in the
soil.
• The inland taipan only eats
mammals and is a carnivore.
