Types of Gas:
Several types of natural gas that could result from gas mining are:
III) Liquid Petroleum Gas (LPG)
I) Natural Gas (NG) Mixture: Propane/Butane/Both + Light Hydrocarbon
II) Natural Gas Liquid (NGL)
III) Liquid Petroleum Gas (LPG) Produce Gases: With small amount of Ethane and
IV) Liquid Natural Gas (LNG) Pentane with Mixtures.
V) Piped Natural Gas (PNG) Uses : Residential and industrial, Mostly use as
VI) Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) cooling agent.
IV) Liquid Natural Gas (LNG)
I) Natural Gas (NG) Mixture: hydrocarbons with -162 degree c
Mixture: Hydrocarbons of High pressure Produce Gases: Same as LPG
Components: Methane, Ethane, Propane, Isobutane,
Butane and Pentane. V) Piped Natural Gas (PNG)
Mixture: Natural Gas
II) Natural Gas Liquid (NGL) Uses: Residential and Industrial
Mixture: Hydrocarbons in Liquid state(Moderate
Temp.) VI) Compressed Natural Gas (CNG)
Produce Gases: Propane, Butane and Pentane. Mixture: Natural Gas with -100 degree c
Uses: Residential, Vehicle fuel, Industrial
Importance & Necessity Of Gas Supply System In Buildings
• For domestic use, cooking, water heating, cleaning and air conditioning.
• Can improve the efficiency of the industry and creates less pollution.
• Reduce total fuel consumption for domestic purposes.
• To generate electricity, as fuel for vehicles and commercial uses.
Components of Gas supply in Buildings:
Gas Supply
*For Residential , industrial and business premises.
*Residential capacity is 20 kgs/day. Using bottom lines and connection
for gas supply.
*For Industrial and commercial purpose its depend on requirements.
Gas Distribution Systems:
Disadvantages:
* Toxic and Flammable; Leakage of natural gas in enclosed area is extreme dangerous.
* Damage environment; combustion of natural gas will also release carbon dioxide.
* Processing is complex.
* Non- renewable; like other fossil materials, although natural gas is available in large quantities which cannot be
renewed and supply will run out. Its nit long term solution to energy issues.
* Expensive installation and inefficiencies for transportation use( when used as fuel for vehicles, provide less millage
compare to gasoline.
