thin paper for smoking. The cigarette is ignited at
one end, causing it to smolder; the resulting smoke
is orally inhaled via the opposite end.

Nicotine, the psychoactive drug in tobacco,


makes cigarettes highly addictive.

Alcohol (ethanol or ethyl alcohol) is the


ingredient found in beer, wine and spirits
that causes drunkenness.

Alcohol is formed when yeast ferments


(breaks down without oxygen) the sugars
in different food.
