Activity: Draw Me!!!


Group Activity: Analyze the situation below and do the
instructions that follow.
Joshua and Jonathan are friends. Joshua’s
hobbies and sports include: basketball, tennis, pingpong,
hiphop dancing and singing. Jonathan, on the other
hand, prefers hiphop dancing, playing guitar and short-
story writing.
Tasks: Write the hobbies or sports of the two boys in two
circles. Write their names in their corresponding circles.
Analysis
• What are the hobbies and sports of each
boy?
• What set of hobbies and sports do they
have in common?
• What are your hobbies/sports?
• Are they the same with the hobbies of the
two boys?
Venn Diagram
• A visual tool which was developed first by
John Venn in the 1880s.
• In a Venn diagram, sets are represented
by shapes; usually circles or ovals.
• The elements of a set are labeled within
the circle.
Example 1
Use Venn diagram to represent the following
sets.
Set U = {1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10}
Set A = {2, 4, 6, 8, 10}
Set B = {5, 6, 7, 8, 9}

Forty of the students have dogs and thirty-
five have cats.
