Public budgeting for the realization of children’s rights

• Prioritize the promotion, protection, and realization of children’s rights


in the national and local budgets;
• Ensure that the best interests of the child are considered in budget
decision making;
• Strengthen the information system on children with disaggregation to
ensure that marginalized and disadvantaged groups of children are
visible;
• Conduct regular evidence-based planning, reporting, evaluation, and
impact assessment of programs and budget allocations for children;
• Ensure children’s participation in all stages of the budget process;
• Develop a system for tagging budget lines that directly and indirectly
contribute to the realization of child rights
