Knowledge society

knowledge societies are about capabilities to identify, produce, The need for continuous learning is a
process, transform, disseminate and use information to build and general characteristic of the knowledge
apply knowledge for human development [1].  society and the capacity for each
individual to learn throughout life is crucial
[1].

UDLAP
Knowledge identify

• The first step of conducting a study is identifying a previously unexplored area of

research.
• The best way to do this is to identify a gap in existing research in the field, i.e.,
finding a research gap.
– When you read papers or books on topics of your interest, you may realize
there are some areas that have significant scope for more research, but they
have not been tapped by other researchers.
• Challenges you may face while identifying research gaps:
– Effort of dealing with an enormous amount of information.
– One can easily lose ideas if they are not noted properly.
–  Hesitation in questioning established norms.

Knowledge identify

Though there is no well-defined process to find a

gap in existing knowledge, your curiosity, creativity,
imagination, and judgment can help you identify it.

UDLAP
Knowledge produce

Refers to the cluster of related activities in a higher education

institution, a research center, or an enterprise that has to do with
producing new knowledge.

A result of predominantly scientific activity – from philosophy to information

science. Knowledge is a source of reliable information on reality and
provides skills to use it. Knowledge can be not only scientific but also social
and cultural. Science, education and learning (institutions, practices,
policies) as well as their contexts determine the knowledge production.

Perspectives on Future Protein Production

An increasing world population, rising affluence,
urbanization, and changing eating habits are all
contributing to the diversification of protein production.
Protein is a building block of life and is an essential part of
a healthy diet, providing amino acids for growth and repair.

Perspectives on Future Protein Production

 The global population is expected to grow to 9.7 billion by 2050.
 Current estimates predict that we will require ∼70% more food than is currently
produced.
 The United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 12 “Responsible Consumption
and Production” highlights the need to meet the food gap while maintaining
planetary health.
 We rely on a small range of foods, with 75% of the global food supply coming
from only 12 plant and 5 animal species.
 While people in the middle class and beyond may be consuming sufficient
calories, energy-dense diets contribute to obesity,4 and consuming from narrow
diets does not necessarily provide enough vitamins and minerals, leading to
undernourishment.
