OBJECTIVES

Discuss how electrical wiring system works;

Analyze the flow of electricity;
Illustrate electrical diagrams; and
Convert diagram.
Wiring System

This refers to how electricity flows in a

circuit. It needs thorough analysis to
construct a wiring diagram to have a safely
installed circuit.
Tips in Analyzing Wiring System
Make sure that the
flow of electricity starts
from the source to the
switch to the output
back to the source.
Tips in Analyzing Wiring System
If there are two or
more outputs, each
should follow the
same flow without
affecting each other.
Tips in Analyzing Wiring System
If there is a
convenience outlet, it
should not be affected
by the switch nor the
outputs, and must go
directly to the source.
PARTS OF A CIRCUIT
•SOURCE. IT IS WHERE ELECTRICITY OR POWER FOR THE CIRCUIT TO
WORK COMES FROM, E.G. BATTERY.
•PATH. IT IS WHERE CURRENT FLOWS. IT CONNECTS ALL THE DEVICES
PRESENT IN A CIRCUIT, E.G. WIRES.
•CONTROL. IT TOGGLES THE CIRCUIT ON OR OFF, E.G. SWITCH.
•OUTPUT. IT RECEIVES THE CURRENT, E.G. LAMP OR BULB.
THE CYCLE OF CURRENT OR
FLOW OF ELECTRICITY IS A
VITAL FACTOR TO CONSIDER
IN WIRING CIRCUITS AND
ILLUSTRATING DIAGRAMS. A
COMPLETE AND CORRECT
FLOW MUST BE:
DIFFERENT WIRES PRESENT IN A CIRCUIT

•HOT WIRE : SOURCE TO CONTROL

•TERMINAL WIRE : CONTROL TO OUTPUT
•NEUTRAL WIRE : OUTPUT TO SOURCE

•TERMINAL WIRE : CONTROL TO OUTPUT
•NEUTRAL WIRE : OUTPUT TO SOURCE
•**TRAVELERS : CONTROL TO CONTROL
