Extraction of juice from the pericarp
Cut the pericarp but did not penetrate the kernel.
Separate the kernel and extract the oil in soxhlet with ether, here we
get 21% of thick, dark oil.
Similar operation can done with cold light petroleum but here we get
20% dark extract.
Remove the solvent and shake the residue several time with cold alcohol
After separating the alcoholic extract, remove the alcohol and shake the dark
residue three times with its own volume of water
Distillate the residue under pressure, we get 4.5-6% yield of pale yellow oil
boiling under 247-250°C

Conclusion
Semcarpus anacardium is a one of most important medicinally important plant
which may be use as alternatives of medicine.
There are two methods for extraction of essential oil, by taking recovery as
concern we choose to go with whole seed rather than only pericarp.
FTIR, GC & HPTLC are use to confirm the compound present in essential oil
