Learning Goals: Students will review and be able to describe the vocabulary for this mini unit by completing the fill-in-the-blank
informal assessment. Students will also engage in a simulation to experience the bill law process through Lawcraft and complete a
padlet analyzing the difficulty of the process.
Content Standards: 12.4.1. Discuss Article I of the Constitution as it relates to the legislative branch, including eligibility for office
and lengths of terms of representatives and senators; election to office; the roles of the House and Senate in impeachment
proceedings; the role of the vice president; the enumerated legislative powers; and the process by which a bill becomes a law.
Assignment: Fill-in-the-Blank Vocab

As a table: use your weekend textbook reading to fill in the


blanks on the handout. (15 minutes)
a. After completion:
i. Choose one highlighter color to symbolize the House.
ii. Highlight every part of the review handout where a unique
power or feature of the House’s role in the Bill to Law process
is being discussed.
iii. Choose a second highlighter color to symbolize the Senate and
highlight every part of the review handout where a unique
power or feature of the Senate’s ’s role in the Bill to Law
process is being discussed.
Two Paragraph Assignment

You will write two paragraphs (or more) explaining the legislative process
and how it differs in the House of Representatives and the Senate. (Use your
textbook for guidance, but assignment must be in your own words).
